Spring has arrived, and though it’s not yet warm in Boston, my fitness goals for the season have already begun. They say summer bodies are made in the winter and it’s pretty darn true. Years ago when I first started seeing a trainer after not working out for a long time, he told me to be patient. It takes at least 8-10 weeks to notice any changes and that’s with serious dedication to your workouts. But he was right; after about 2 1/2 months I started to see definition in places we were focusing on and it was SO motivating. My point is that if you’ve just begun a workout routine, don’t get frustrated after a couple weeks if you don’t look the way you want to. Give it time! It’ll be so rewarding.
Wellness Goals for Spring
1. Barre classes 4x/week. I typically go at least 3-5 times per week, but sometimes busier work weeks and travel set me back. 20+ classes is doable for me so I know I need to stick with it. In addition to the exercise, it’s the best stress relief I’ve found in a long time. (Err, besides wine.)
2. Run at least once a week. I cringed as I wrote that because I used to run a lot. I’ve got a ton of 5Ks and a half marathon in the books, but since the half…I was pretty much over it. And with barre being my main focus, my little legs want nothing to do with running. That said, Barre N9ne recently combined their treadmill studio with our packages. Guess who’s gonna be lacing up some sneakers?? This girl!
3. Drink more water! I’ve kept this same goal for years now…so really it’s become part of my lifestyle, but warmer temps mean more water. I aim for 100 ounces of per day, be it filling up my favorite water bottle, drinking green tea with breakfast, or sipping on seltzer water. I can’t stress enough how important it is to stay hydrated. I swear that staying hydrated improves my fitness endurance and keeps my skin clear. Sip up ladies! (Use code CHRISTINA15 for 15% a bottle!)
4. Continued mindful eating. As I mentioned before, I gave up mindless eating for Lent. Working at an office that has a catering division makes this SO hard. When I smell french fries, I practically jump out of my seat. I’ve kicked that to the curb since the beginning of Lent and plan to continue. People at work are going to seriously question my mental state when I’m hiding in the corner from the scent of mac & cheese… 😉
