Because I’m moving to Boston! Yep, it’s time to make a move. In case you didn’t know, I was born in Concord, MA and grew up in Acton, MA until I was 13. My parents moved us to Charleston and I’ve been here ever since. I really love this city, but I’ve simply outgrown it. Not having lived anywhere else as an adult, I’ve been longing for a  change for a couple years. Truthfully, I’ve thought about this for so long, but never had the courage to make it happen.

My primary reasons for moving are personal and career growth. I’ve exhausted my resources in Charleston and crave some anonymity in a new city. When Lucy moved to NYC and Danielle moved to Charlotte, my heart ached for them, but more than anything, I admired their guts to pack up and move in order to better their life. And now I’m ready to do the same.

Don’t worry — the blog is definitely coming with me! I’m excited to document this major event and look forward to creating memories with new friends, new restaurants, and of course, my family. As far as my plans go, I will be staying with my Aunt Tina, Uncle Matt, and cousins Maddie and Mick until I figure out where I want to live. I’ve been applying for plenty of jobs (there are so many compared to Charleston, it’s ridiculous) and already have a couple things in the works. Though it may seem sudden, this has been a long time coming. My best friend Nancy and I are driving up on March 30, will stop in DC, and my first official day as a Massachusetts resident will be April 1, 2014.

wow!! congrats woman!! I love MA (went to college there) and love the northeast! moving and doing something new was the best thing I did as an adult…good luck!!

  • Eeep! I love seeing people make big changes to improve their lives. It’s so easy to stay in our little bubbles and constantly wonder “what if”. So happy that you’ll be starting new and selfishly, I’m excited about more photos of Patriot football player butts.

Happy for you and excited to follow you along for the ride!

  • Brittany Greer

I know I already told you this on FB, but congrats! I’m truly happy for you and do agree it takes a lot of courage to make a big move like this. I’ve never been to Boston so I can’t wait to read more about it and learn about where I need to eat when I make it there one day.

  • Paige Newnam Springle

Boston better watch out! Best wishes!

  • Erica Jordan

I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!!!! Big things poplin! And…..I CANNOT WAIT TO HANG OUT WITH YOU!!

  • CONGRATS! can’t wait to see whats in store for you in boston 🙂 🙂

  • Courtney

Congrats on the big move!!! I live in MA (minutes from Acton) and I have been longing to move to Charleston! HA! You are coming at the right time…it is just starting to thaw a little:) Looking forward to hearing about your new adventure!!!

  • Jason Harrison

I heard the song I’m Shipping Up to Boston Saturday night and it made me think of you. I can relate to your feeling of out growing this place but you are a braver soul than me for actually venturing out and making the move. You’ll do great things up there and just know i’m super jealous that you will get to go to Fenway all summer.

  • sugarplumblog

    Yaaay! Congrats!

  • EEEKK I am SO excited for you!! I LOVE Boston, I was either going to school there or in Charleston! I’ll be right behind you, moving home to Maryland in May! Feel free to complain of any cold-weather (sub 60 degrees of course) to me! I will likely have my ear muffs on.

    Cheers to new beginnings!

  • Kaye Johnson

woop woop!! charleston will always be there and i’m pretty much everywhere!!

  • Anastacia Mosher- Arnold

Congrats! I think everyone should experience a new place outside of their comfort zone at least once in their life. Boston seems like such a wonderful place. I read some blogs from that area and I can’t wait to read about your experiences there.

  • Lindsey Peterson

Congratulations!! Moving is so fun (stressful, but fun)! I hope you love Boston and I can’t wait to read about your adventures there!

  • Alexis T

Woohoo, welcome! You’re going to love living in Boston. It’s so fun!

  • itzyskitchen

You know I’m happy for you but sad for me 😉 Best of luck. I hope you can sneak into the gym and take one of my classes before you go (or we can meet for coffee!)

  • Amanda

So happy for you, congrats! Can’t wait for the Boston updates 🙂 Good luck!

  • Chelsea’s Healthy Kitchen

I’m so excited for you! Making a big move like this is such a huge change, but I bet you’re looking forward to experiencing something different. I went to Boston once for HLS two years ago and I seriously fell in love with the city. I can’t wait to hear about all your new adventures there. 🙂

  • Amy

I’m happy for you and sad for us! You must must must keep in touch!!! I will see you at your going away party. I did the same thing when I moved to Charleston. Didn’t know anyone, just packed up my shiz and moved down here for a job. That was 10 years ago.

  • Nikki @ The Pink Growl

I’m SO EXCITED for you!!! But even though I haven’t met you it makes me kinda sad that you will be further away from me. If that makes sense?? haha Can’t wait to come visit 🙂

  • Allie Sciallis

Congrats!! I am a long time blog reader and live in Boston! If you ever need a running buddy (or wine drinking buddy…) let me know!! Can’t wait for you to do some boston area restaurant reviews too!

    • Hannah Longmore

Ditto! Would love to meet you after you get settled in and work out/eat/drink/shop/explore! Boston is a blast and you will love it!

  • Sheanna Caban

I can’t WAIT to hear how the move goes and all the new places you’ll be trying out, and the events you’ll be going to! So fun! I’ll admit, though, that I am really going to miss your restaurant reviews! Whenever I wanted to try a new restaurant, I would visit your blog first and see what you had to say about it.
You’re going to do great! You’re a beautiful, smart, feisty and BRAVE woman. I wish I had been able to take more time to get to know you better in person, but truthfully from reading your blog and learning about some of the things that you have done and gone through, I started to look at you as a little sister almost. I am so very proud of you, my dear. I know that this is going to be a fabulous new adventure for you and that you will make the most of it. xoxo

  • Sheanna Caban

Also, I know the feeling of making a big change like that. 8 years ago, I moved from Illinois to Charleston (for a job)….With a daughter and no family and nobody that I knew. Thank goodness you have family up there! It was quite lonely here for me for a loooooong time when I made the move. I’m glad that will not be the case with you.

  • HealthyDiva

SO excited for you girl! Good for you to follow your heart, and not let fear scare you! Love you and can’t wait to see your adventures there! Did you scope the froyo options already? hehe! There is a pinkberry there!

  • Lauren

Congrats!! Boston is a great city to live in not to mention it’s so close to other big cities and vacation spots(:

  • Jess M

Congrats!! Moving can be so exciting and you learn so much about yourself. Good for you! Wishing you all the best 🙂

    • Jess M

Oh, one thing that might be helpful when applying for jobs. Go ahead and put the new Boston address on your resume instead of Charleston. Sometimes this can make a huge difference when Hiring Managers/HR/Recruiters review resumes. If they (we) think that you are already in the city, they are usually more apt to call. If it doesn’t appear that you already live somewhere they get concerned with Relocation costs, how soon could you start, etc…. Good luck!!!

  • Alissa

Congratulations for making a decision that feels true to you…even though its a tough one! Boston is a very cool city, both figuratively and literally, ha 😉

  • Brynn Guster

Congrats on the big, brave move! I know you will thrive wherever you go and whatever you do. Wishing you a smooth transition. Can’t wait to hear about the new local!

  • Jeff Amador

I think you accidentally typed “Boston” instead of “Austin.” :-p

  • So sad (but also happy for you!)! Even sadder that I will have to miss the going away party because we’ll be in Hilton Head celebrating our anniversary that weekend. 🙁 🙁 🙁

  • Jaycie

Yay, congrats! I’m excited for you and your new adventures!

  • mona

  • Congrats Christina! So excited for you!

  • OMG! WOW! Best of luck to you….I love Boston and I know you’ll find something for you there in the big city. I feel you on Charleston being a little too small. Will of course continue to read your blog! 🙂

  • Emily

Yay back to Boston! We should meet up for a run or a drink when you’re back 🙂

  • Erin @ The Grass Skirt Blog

SO excited for you- though I’ll miss knowing that you’re in the south with me. I think this will be a great change for you, and I wish you nothing but the best! So random, but do you watch Southern Charm? It is set in Charleston, and I am literally addicted.
    The Grass Skirt

  • Joe

Good luck orso! I’ll cherish what we had!
    – @joeygirard

  • Jennifer

Congrats! My husband always says that as much as we love Charleston – it’s hard to find balance there as an adult. I had to laugh at your job remark. I tried to find a teaching position in Charleston with zero luck. Moved to Raleigh and had three interviews with offers in one day. Good Luck to you!!! I hope it works out for you and you are able to live the life you need!

    • i’m so grateful for everyone’s well wishes, but your last sentence truly touched me. thank you!

  • Kristin

Way to be brave! Good for you for going for it. Best of luck with the move!

  • SOOOOOO excited for you. what a fun, exciting move! you much be so pumped up!!

  • Cheri

I work in Boston, lots of fun things to do. You have to have drinks at the Liberty hotel, splurge at Roxy’s Grilled Cheese & Cookie Monstah food trucks, outdoor warm weather drinking at the waterfront! There is a Boston young professionals group that you can join, they frequently have events going on, http://www.bostonypa.com
There are lots of great gyms to pick from as well. Check out Sarah Fits Blog, she reviews a ton of local classes.
    Good luck!

  • Jaye Clayton

I can tell you that I will miss you! I’ve never met you, (live here in Charleston), but feel as if I would always run into you. I think you may follow me on Pinterest (of course it is alcohol related). Just wanted to tell you to go for it. Don’t be scared, think of it as an adventure! A way to reinvent yourself if you feel like it. You’ll learn new things, meet new people, make important decisions! The world is your oyster, enjoy it! I myself can’t wait to get our of Charleston too! 2015, whohoo! Safe travels, my friend!

  • Paige

That’s so exciting! Congrats 🙂 Coincidentally, I’m watching Southern Charm right now, and it made me think of you!

  • Jess Kraus

I am trying to do the opposite – leave Connecticut for Charlotte – and this post came at a really great time. Congratulations and good luck! Looking forward to following your journey 🙂

  • Change is scary but good, I think you’re going to have a great time in Boston except for maybe the blizzard thing. I’ll keep humidity over blizzards any day!

If you are looking of a wonderfully kind Boston Blogger you should go visit Kate at Another Clean Slate. Not only is she a Boston Blogger she’s president (I think that’s the right title) of the NE Bloggers Network.

    • The blizzard thing–ha!! I’m scared. Oh I’ll definitely have to check out her blog. Thanks for the rec!!
