Blast 900 Classes in Mt. Pleasant

Ever heard of Blast 900 classes? Balanced Level of Aerobic And Strength Training is the acronym for the class in which you can burn up to 900 calories! I had been before with Nikki and Kaye, but went again with Annabel on Sunday. Each class consists of cardio interval training + strength training for the “ultimate workout.” It’s great for someone who gets bored or distracted easily and needs something fast paced. Is it perfect for me? Yes. I enjoyed all 60 minutes of the high-energy workout.

Before class, looking normal.

Before class, looking normal.

Before class I took advantage of all the space and embraced my inner gymnast. I did gymnastics as a child and still think I should be able to do crap like this. Ha.IMG_3020-2

To warm up, we walked on the treadmill for about 5 minutes, then moved onto running intervals on an incline. Our instructor (my friend JD!) gave us the option of walking, jogging, or running with different paces for each.IMG_2997

After 5 minutes of intervals, we moved onto 5 minutes of strength training, then back to the treadmills, and so on. Because it’s so mixed up, there’s no way you can get bored or have time to look at the clock. Each of the treadmill intervals was different, and each of the strength training sets focused on a different body part.IMG_2998

We ended the class with ab work and stretching. There’s no better way to finish a class than a child’s pose, is there? Wait, there is. A high five from the teacher. Awesome. You’re great, JD! Can I teach too!?

After class. A little worn out? Or just being dramatic? ;)

Do you like interval training? Do you prefer cardio or strength training?

I’m always so intrigued by this place when I go to Triangle. You’re the first person I’ve personally heard of who’s gone, though. Sounds like a great workout!

I love interval training and prefer it in a class setting, but I have yet to find a place I like in my town :( this looks like a lot of fun though! I’ve been trying to work treadmill incline workouts into my routine more and I love them!

  • Sam @ Better With Sprinkles

Love interval training! I’ve been doing it over steady-state cardio for the last several months and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it. So much quicker and I feel like I get a better workout. But of course, strength training is the favourite. :-D

you definitely do get a better workout. :)

I’ve always wanted to take a treadmill class, bc I am uber competitive at running. This looks like a Blast? I mean fun:) Cute pics, as always. Workout Barbie!

  • Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin

I love that the class incorporates treadmill work! I’ve never seen a class like that around here.

Love this! I wish we had this type of set up here. I work at a 24 hour gym, so it’s hard to get row of treadmills and a good amount of weights free at the same time. Sounds like a fun class!

it is fun! maybe you could go at weird hours and own that gym? haha

Sounds like a pretty BA class. As soon as the instructor told me to get on the treadmill, I think I’d be instantly nervous… and tired.

I love BLAST! At first I thought it would be too hard but now I can even go three days a week since they have paces for all levels. They also offer first class FREE to try!

  • Kelly Casey

Wow, that looks awesome! Why oh why do classes like this have to be soo expensive???? :(

  • Hundewanderer

Interesting stuff. The more fitness blogs I follow, I’m amused at how subjective the amount of water each person drinks can be. I try to drink two quarts a day, but don’t always make that goal.

Yeesh! I got tired just reading this, haha! Glad you enjoyed it! I like how they keep you jumping from thing to thing to keep your attention. :)
