Ever heard of Blast 900 classes? Balanced Level of Aerobic And Strength Training is the acronym for the class in which you can burn up to 900 calories! I had been before with Nikki and Kaye, but went again with Annabel on Sunday. Each class consists of cardio interval training + strength training for the “ultimate workout.” It’s great for someone who gets bored or distracted easily and needs something fast paced. Is it perfect for me? Yes. I enjoyed all 60 minutes of the high-energy workout.
Before class I took advantage of all the space and embraced my inner gymnast. I did gymnastics as a child and still think I should be able to do crap like this. Ha.
To warm up, we walked on the treadmill for about 5 minutes, then moved onto running intervals on an incline. Our instructor (my friend JD!) gave us the option of walking, jogging, or running with different paces for each.
After 5 minutes of intervals, we moved onto 5 minutes of strength training, then back to the treadmills, and so on. Because it’s so mixed up, there’s no way you can get bored or have time to look at the clock. Each of the treadmill intervals was different, and each of the strength training sets focused on a different body part.
We ended the class with ab work and stretching. There’s no better way to finish a class than a child’s pose, is there? Wait, there is. A high five from the teacher. Awesome. You’re great, JD! Can I teach too!?
If you’re a Charleston resident, check out the Blast 900 studio in Mt. Pleasant. For those of you who aren’t lucky enough to live here (just kidding), check out all the locations here. You’ll love the burn!
Do you like interval training? Do you prefer cardio or strength training?
