Thoughts on Thursday

I told you I was going to abuse the list format!

1. I wouldn’t call myself unfriendly, but I realize that I don’t always reach out/introduce myself to people before they do. Maybe it’s an insecurity, maybe I’m just distracted. Regardless, I want to work on this. There is a girl who goes to the same Pure Barre classes as me, and she always says hi and asks how I’m doing. Today she even remembered that I was going to the farmer’s market after Tuesday’s class and asked me what I bought. Be friendly to everyone. Say hi to people. Put yourself out there. You can make friends wherever you go. The person sitting right beside you could be your new best friend…

2. I have very little self control around chocolate. I don’t just have a sweet tooth, I have sweet teeth. My eyeballs almost popped out of their sockets when I found out that Chick-fil-A is launching new dessert items:

  • chocolate chunk cookies (!!)
  • fudge brownies
  • sundaes

3. For the past couple of months, I’ve been considering getting a dog. The only reason I’m holding back is that I’m always busy and worry that I wouldn’t have enough time to devote to a puppy. Plus, just like with men, I’m picky. I want a small to medium-sized dog, who doesn’t shed, doesn’t bark loudly, is able to run with me, and will snuggle at all times. Too much to ask? What do you guys think?

4. Rachel sent me a very exciting text message on Sunday.2012-04-08_18-51-56

My lookalike + Ryan Gosling? I won’t mind watching that. I’m halfway through the book and it’s getting more intense. Unfortunately it’s giving me unrealistic expectations for my future boyfriend.

5. I fully support marriage equality for all. I’m straight, but I watched my parents’ marriage fail and am in no rush to get married. That doesn’t mean I don’t want others who are in love to be happy. Fiona Apple summed it up perfectly in her letter to a gay teen: “A person who loves is a righteous person, and if someone has the ability and desire to show love to another — to someone willing to receive it, then for goodness’ sake, let them do it. Hate has no place in the equation; there is no function for it to perform. Love is love, and there will never be too much.”love_is_love_sticker-p217740351508061768z85xz_400

Good grief this post was serious.

To recap: Smile at everyone, try the new cookie at Chick-fil-A, tell me if I should get a dog, start reading Fifty Shades of Grey, and wave your rainbow flag.

Great post! I can’t believe that someone ate her pizza, especially with a bite taken from it!

  • Kristin

Would love to try Pure Barre!  Someone at work used all my coffee creamer a couple of months ago and it’s still bugging me.  My name was all over the bottle!

I am trying out a “kickboxing cardio” class at my gym tomorrow night.  I’ve never taken a class like this before…any tips?!

    • http://www.hungrymeetshealthy.com/ Christina

just watch the teacher! try not to focus on what anyone else is doing — it’s YOUR workout :)

Water Ball sounds fun! What are you going to wear? I vote for a mermaid costume which is both formal enough and appropriate for the theme.

    I’m craving sushi!

My office is pretty good about that kinda thing, we all share a lot, so nobody does questionable shit.

    • http://www.hungrymeetshealthy.com/ Christina

as much as i would love to dress like a mermaid, i think a cocktail dress will suffice! ha

  • itzyskitchen

    • http://www.hungrymeetshealthy.com/ Christina

I am really glad my office is small and the fridge is in sight of my desk…I would not be happy if someone ate my lunch!

I’ll be interested to read your thoughts on Fifty Shades of Grey – I am on book 3 right now. I like the plot, but some of the parts are a bit intense.

Love your blog read it every day, but hardly comment!

  • Livefortherun

Food thiefs have serious bad karma coming their way, for serious.

    • http://www.hungrymeetshealthy.com/ Christina

Um, you need to date that man!!! I live too far away or I would be all about that ;)

Food stealing happens every so often where I work and it always just kills me. WHY?! esp half eaten, that is so so so weird…

  • http://www.lindsaywidle.blogspot.com/ Lindsay

Joe is SO cute. Why haven’t you set him up with Amanda yet? :)

  • http://shannalikebanana.wordpress.com/ Shanna, like Banana

That pizza story is priceless!  And gross.  People have taken my food too, but nothing half eaten.  So gross!

BTW I can never comment on your page on my phone or at work :(

    • http://www.hungrymeetshealthy.com/ Christina

aww it’s ok. glad to know you’re reading though!

  • http://missmagnoliamunches.blogspot.com Rebecca

It’s so gross that someone ate the already nibbled on pizza! On a long run once, I stashed my reuseable Nalgene bottle along my route and someone took it.  What could they possibly want with my dirty, used water bottle?!? Ugh.  Some people’s kids.

I’m downloading Nicki Minaj’s new album very soon.  I’ve only heard “Starships” so far, but if it is an indication of the rest of the album, I’ll love it.

    • http://www.hungrymeetshealthy.com/ Christina

i wish i could say that song was an indication of the entire album, but it’s not. there are a couple good songs though. maybe i need to listen more to really love it.. :) i’ll keep you updated!

My friend just told me about Fifty Shades of Gray yesterday. I’d never heard about it but she said apparently it’s been sold out everywhere. I can’t wait to read it!

  • http://www.confessionsofachocoholic.com/ Bianca Garcia

I love trying new wines from TJs. I’m reading Fifty Shade of Gray right now and I’m not the biggest fan, especially with all the hype it’s getting. But I’m not halfway yet so maybe it gets better!

    • http://www.hungrymeetshealthy.com/ Christina

wow, really? that’s the first i’ve heard that. i’m even more interested now!

  • http://www.lauralikesdesign.com/blog Laura @ LauraLikesDesign

um, you’re right…who the hell eats a half eaten slice of pizza?? or of anything? not only is it kind of gross but it’s definitely RUDE!

my copy of 50 shades of grey came today from amazon. my heart melted…i’m pumped! i have to finish the hunger games first, though…

    • http://www.hungrymeetshealthy.com/ Christina

  • LauraL

Ah, the Green Fin Wine from TJ’s is one of my cheap favorites!!! Now I know I’m not the only crazy one. Totally worth the $1 “splurge” from 3-buck-chuck (not a huge fan of those selections). They also have a red “Green Fin”… I’m not a huge red drinker, but have you tried it/thoughts? I <3 TJ wine :)

    • http://www.hungrymeetshealthy.com/ Christina

i don’t like the 3 buck chuck either. ick!! i haven’t seen the red Green Fin but i’ll be on the lookout bc i usually prefer red. def will post about it if i find it. thanks!
